Research
From experience to evidence.
Human development shouldn't rely solely on anecdotes. THMEX is exploring how promising approaches can be studied, measured and understood through responsible research.
The question
Does it work — and how would we know?
Emotional intelligence, communication and leadership training are widely used and unevenly examined. THMEX does not claim that any of these approaches are clinically proven. The honest position is that some of them look promising, and that promise deserves to be tested rather than asserted.
The principle
Narrow enough to be answerable.
Most claims about human development fail because the question was too broad. THMEX starts the other way round.
01
One problem
A clearly defined difficulty, not a broad ambition.
02
One population
A specific group in a specific context.
03
One intervention
A single, described approach — nothing bundled.
04
One measurable outcome
Agreed before anything begins.
05
One research partner
An institution that owns the method and the scrutiny.
The process
Seven steps, in order, every time.
01
Define
State the problem, the population and the question.
02
Measure
Establish a baseline before any intervention.
03
Intervene
Deliver one described approach, consistently.
04
Reassess
Measure again, using the same instruments.
05
Follow Up
Return later to see what held.
06
Analyse
Interpretation led by the research partner.
07
Share
Publish what was found — including what was not.
Our evidence principle
We would rather say we don't know yet than say something we cannot show.
01
Define
Say precisely what is being examined.
02
Measure
Use instruments chosen with the research partner.
03
Document
Record the method, not only the result.
04
Compare
Set findings against a baseline or comparison group.
05
Review
Submit to independent and ethical review.
06
Share
Report openly, including null and unclear findings.
Under exploration
Three areas we are thinking about.
Potential research areas — not confirmed programmes. Each would need an institutional partner before it became anything more than an interest.
Students & Education
Whether structured work on self-awareness and communication can be studied inside learning environments.
Potential focus areas
- Confidence and self-efficacy in adolescence
- Communication climate in classrooms
- Readiness for transitions after school
Healthcare & Care
Care work is relational by definition, which makes it a demanding and honest setting for measurement.
Potential focus areas
- Relational quality in care encounters
- Recovery and stress prevention among care staff
- Retention and everyday working conditions
Workplace & Leadership
Whether leadership and communication practice can be linked to observable working conditions.
Potential focus areas
- Psychological safety in teams
- Communication practice after training
- Sustainable performance over time
